Description
This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created by the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico. It is known as Nierikas and is made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board. It represents the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.
There is an extensive description on the back written by the Huichol artist.
The description: “In this painting, there is the moon with the tree of the wind. The Huicholes consider them sacred and the purest. Also, there are offerings such as peyotes, an arrow with a deer horn, and a candle. All offerings are sacred.”
