Description

This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created  by  the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico.  It is known as Nierikas and made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board representing the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.

There is an extensive description on the back written  by  the Huichol artist.
The description: “It is the sacred peyote called Hikuri that symbolizes the deer god.  Sikuri (Eye of God) also represents a sacred place called the Wirikuta and the arrows represent the four cardinal points.”
