Description

This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created  by  the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico.  It is known as Nierikas and made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board representing the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.

There is an extensive description on the back written  by  the Huichol artist.
The description: “This painting presents a ceremony where the healer drummers to lead the Huichol children in a good way.  That is why he puts a drum on the side of the fire with offerings such as God’s eye, tamale, cornfield, and peyote protected with feathers to remove bad vibes.  The healer always cleans them with the arrows with feathers and also children and mothers.  Thus, the Huichol carries traditional rituals for years.”
