Description

This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created  by  the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico.  It is known as Nierikas and made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board representing the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.

There is an extensive description on the back written  by  the Huichol artist.
The description: “In the lower part of this painting, there is a bowl called “jicara” that represents fertility and a whole family for the Huichol.  In that jicara, there are the different seeds of the earth awaiting, including the sacred corn and peyote.”
