Description

This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created  by  the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico.  It is known as Nierikas and made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board representing the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.

There is an extensive description on the back written  by  the Huichol artist.
The description: “In this picture, we see the meaning of the eclipse as the two great gods of our sacred land.  The moon is the goddess of rain and the sun is the god of fire; the serpent already protects them.  The arrows, the candles, and the eye of gods are offerings to the Gods.”
