Description

This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created  by  the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico.  It is known as Nierikas and is made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board representing the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.

There is an extensive description on the back written  by  the Huichol artist.
The description: “This is a sacred gourd with a serpent and an eagle that protect the peyotes.  There are some windflowers and deer horns as offerings.  They are all the presentation of history, culture, and tradition of Huichol.”
