Description
This Yarn Art is a one-of-a-kind art created by the indigenous Huichol people of Nayarit, Mexico. It is known as Nierikas and made with colored yarns applied using a natural adhesive mixture of beeswax and resin over a wooden board representing the visions of the Huichol shamans during the ritual ceremonies.
There is an extensive description on the back written by the Huichol artist.
The description: “Here we see the elder brother, the Blue Deer, in the ceremony giving wisdom to the shaman who performs the ritual of purification. It is surrounded the offerings such as peyote, muvieri, wind flower and fire.”
